Forget the old stories — modern root canal is virtually painless and saves your tooth. We stop the pain, treat the infection and restore full function, often in a single visit.
Most patients are surprised to learn how painless and straightforward modern root canal treatment actually is.
This reputation is decades out of date. Modern anaesthetics mean you feel nothing during the procedure. Most patients say it's no worse than a regular filling.
The infection is what causes the severe toothache. The root canal procedure eliminates that infection and stops the pain. Patients typically leave feeling much better than when they arrived.
Extraction seems simpler but missing teeth cause bone loss, shifting of adjacent teeth, and bite problems. Replacement options like implants are also more expensive.
Nothing replaces the function of your natural tooth. A root canal lets you keep it for life. With a crown fitted afterwards, treated teeth can last decades with proper care.
Many patients imagine weeks of appointments. Modern techniques have transformed this — most straightforward root canals are completed in a single session.
With our modern rotary instruments and techniques, most root canals at Palace Dental Centre are completed in one visit, typically 60–90 minutes.
These symptoms suggest infection or damage to the pulp inside your tooth. Don't wait — the sooner you act, the better the outcome.
Persistent, throbbing pain especially when biting or applying pressure. Pain that radiates to your jaw, ear or neck.
Lingering sensitivity that lasts more than a few seconds after hot or cold food and drinks — especially if it was not there before.
Swelling around the gum, jaw or face near the affected tooth. A pimple-like abscess on the gum is a sign of serious infection.
A tooth that has turned grey or black may have a dead or dying nerve inside — a sign the pulp needs treatment or removal.
Dental pain severe enough to disturb sleep is a serious warning sign that infection is spreading. Seek treatment urgently.
A very deep cavity or crack that has reached the pulp chamber, even without obvious pain yet, typically requires root canal to prevent future infection.
Step by step, here's exactly what we do — so you know what to expect and feel comfortable throughout.
We apply a topical numbing gel first, then administer local anaesthetic. The tooth and surrounding area become completely numb — you will feel nothing during treatment.
A small opening is made in the crown of the tooth to access the pulp chamber. A rubber dam is placed to keep the area clean and dry.
The infected pulp is removed using fine instruments. The canals are carefully shaped and cleaned using rotary files and antibacterial irrigation solution.
The cleaned canals are filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha and sealed with dental cement to prevent reinfection.
A temporary or permanent filling is placed. We typically recommend a crown to fully protect the treated tooth and restore its full strength and appearance.
